Published many papers on chemistry in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society and Medical Soc of London. "On the preservation of sea water from putrefaction by means of quicklime" (1785, vol 1, pp 41 - 51): "Observations on the bills of mortality for the towns of M'cr and Salford" (1790, vol 3, pp 159 - 173); "Case of a person becoming short-sighted in advanced age" (1790, vol 3, p 182) amongst many others
